Petaling Jaya, 18 July 2023 – Honda Malaysia has announced the launch of the facelifted model of its popular City, now open for booking at all Honda dealerships in Malaysia. Branded under the concept of “The Best Gets Better,” the New City promises a stylish design, advanced features, and a powerful powertrain, further enhancing its position in the B-Segment. The vehicle is set to be officially launched in the third quarter of 2023.
The 5th Generation City, launched in 2020, received an overwhelmingly positive response from the market. Adding to its success, Honda Malaysia introduced the City RS e:HEV, a hybrid variant that raised the bar for the best-selling model. Since its launch, over 68,600 units of the 5th Generation City have been sold, with over 10,000 units sold in the first half of 2023 alone, solidifying its popularity among Malaysian consumers.
Exterior Design and Upgrades
The New City’s exterior design builds on the cutting-edge aesthetics of its predecessor. The vehicle’s refreshed bumper design extends its length to 4,589mm, with dimensions of 1,748mm in width and 1,467mm in height. The New City RS boasts several exterior upgrades, including a new Honeycomb Front Grille, Front Lower Grille, Rear Diffuser, Side Skirting, and a distinctive “RS” emblem. Further enhancing its sporty appearance, the New City RS features new Front and Rear Bumpers and 16-inch Dual-Tone Alloy Wheels.
Efficient and Powerful e:HEV Powertrain
Under the hood, the New City e:HEV RS is equipped with a 1.5L e:HEV powertrain, which combines two electric motors with an Electric Continuous Variable Transmission (e-CVT). This configuration delivers an impressive combination of power and fuel efficiency. The e:HEV powertrain produces 109PS of maximum output and an outstanding 253Nm torque, making it the most powerful torque in its class and equivalent to D-segment Naturally Aspirated engine torque.
Enhanced Honda SENSING Safety Systems
Honda has equipped the New City e:HEV RS with its advanced Honda SENSING driver assistance safety systems. In addition to existing features, two new ones are introduced – Low Speed Follow (LSF) and Lead Car Departure Notification (LCDN). These additions enhance the vehicle’s safety and provide even greater value to customers. The comprehensive safety suite includes Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC), Forward Collision Warning (FCW), Collision Mitigation Braking System (CMBS), Lane Keep Assist System (LKAS), Road Departure Mitigation (RDM), Lane Departure Warning (LDW), and Auto High Beam (AHB).
