PROTON and Carsome Collaborate to Boost Bookings via Trade-In Event

Subang Jaya, 25 October 2023 – Malaysia’s national car manufacturer, PROTON, recently joined forces with E-bidding company Carsome in an innovative collaboration that led to a significant surge in new car bookings. The event, aptly named “Trade-in Trade-Up Saturday,” took place on 14 October across 32 PROTON outlets participating in the company’s used car program.

An impressive turnout of 1,552 people attended the event, resulting in an astonishing 624 new car bookings and 320 customers opting to trade in their current vehicles. During the event, Carsome conducted 489 vehicle inspections, far surpassing the initial target of 320 units set prior to the event.

“As our sales volume continues to grow, PROTON is proactively exploring avenues to streamline the acquisition, distribution, and disposal of used cars in support of new bookings. Our used car management division was established to achieve these goals, and our partnership with E-bidding companies allows us to offer customers a more efficient and transparent process, making it easier for them to own a new car,” explained Roslan Abdullah, Chief Executive Officer of Proton Edar.

One of the key highlights of the event was the emphasis on transparency and fair value for customers. Carsome utilized data from mileage, historical records, and physical vehicle inspections to provide customers with competitive offers that reflected the true market value of their vehicles. The collaboration between PROTON and Carsome drew significant interest across all 32 locations, and both parties are excited to continue building upon this successful partnership.

In 2023, the used car management division has already acquired over 4,500 units through its 32 outlets, with plans to set a new record by the end of the year. Looking ahead to 2024, there are ambitious plans to expand the network to 60 outlets and target at least 6,000 units, including potential quarterly trade-in events.

For buyers interested in browsing PROTON’s range of used cars, the company offers a dedicated used car website, http://used-cars.proton.com, where they can view available stock and receive an estimated market price for their own used vehicles.
