More power and sharper styling for Porsche Macan, Macan S and Macan GTS models
The Porsche Macan line-up gets an upgrade. The three variants, the Macan, S and GTS, now have more powerful engines. Other updates include design changes on the exterior and in the cabin as well as improvements to the chassis.
On the exterior, the nose has been designed with an inlay in the exterior colour to emphasise the Macan’s width and make it look more imposing on the road. On the new GTS, the centre of the nose section as well as other elements are finished in black. There is a new diffuser design at the rear. Here and at the front end there is a new 3D structure, which is also available as an option for the car’s sideblades. LED headlights with the Porsche Dynamic Light System (PDLS) and Sport Design exterior mirrors are now standard on all models.
The top-of-the-range 3.0-litre Porsche Macan GTS now has an output of 434bhp, an increase of 59bhp on its predecessor. The sprint to 100km/h takes 4.3seconds on the way to the top speed of 272km/h with Sports Chrono package.
The Macan S gets 26 more bhp and now produces 374bhp. 0-100km/h is 4.6 seconds, top speed is 259km/h.
The entry-level Macan has been fitted with a newly-developed four-cylinder engine that produces 260bhp. The standing sprint to 100km/h takes 6.2 seconds, the top speed is 232km/h.
All three have seven-speed dual-clutch transmission and Porsche Traction Management all-wheel-drive.
The GTS now has sport air suspension as standard while chassis of the Macan range has been upgraded for faster responsiveness to driving conditions. Porsche Active Suspension Management is an option on the Macan but standard on the S and GTS models.
The sport air suspension on the GTS is 10 per cent more rigid on the front axle and 15 percent firmer on the rear axle compared to its predecessor. It also enables the body to be lowered by 10mm for better road holding. The optional GTS Sport Package comes with 21-inch GT design wheels and performance tyres, Porsche Torque Vectoring Plus and the Sport Chrono package.
In the interior, the centre console now has touch surfaces instead of tactile buttons and there is a new, shorter, gear selector. The analogue clock is now standard. There are new leather upholstery and contrasting seam packages in Gentian Blue, Papaya or Crayon. The new multifunction and GT Sport steering wheels in the 911 are now in the Macan.
A total of 14 colours are available for the new Macan, including the new colours Papaya Metallic and Gentian Blue Metallic, as well as Python Green for the Macan GTS with the GTS Sport package. Larger wheels are also fitted as standard: they measure at least 19 inches for the Macan, 20 inches for the Macan S and 21 inches for the Macan GTS. Exclusively for the GTS, there is also the GTS Sport package which provides dynamic benefits and black highlights on the exterior and specific and exclusive equipment for the interior. This includes 18-way sport seats, the Carbon interior package, Race-Tex upholstery with extended leather elements, various items with contrast stitching and GTS lettering in Python Green.range.
