The best-selling car brand in Malaysia by total industry volume
Perodua 2019 annual sale results were revealed recently. The National car company announced record sales for 2019 with 240,341 vehicles sold. This surpassed the previous record of 227,243 units in 2018. The Myvi was the best selling model with the Axia and Bezza taking the second and third places respectively.
The 2019 sale figures were the highest annual sales figures ever for Perodua with a 40% market share based on 2019 Total Industry Volume (TIV) for the Malaysia market with each Perodua model leading its model segment. The Perodua Aruz was the best selling SUV in Malaysia with 30,115 units sold.
Perodua also announced that the Perodua Bezza (launched only in mid January 2020) has an order tally of 15,000 units which include 8,000 converted orders of the previous model.
Perodua expects to boost production by 4% and expects to spend RM6 billion in 2020 (up from RM4.5 billion in 2019) to buy local components.
Export sales were relatively modest with 2,800 units sold but the company expects to make progress in establishing the brand overseas and improving sales. The Perodua emerged as the best selling sub-1 litre saloon in Sri Lanka, and the company is entering a new market in Seychelles.
Perodua will be working with its dealers, which make up 75% of its sales and service network, to upgrade and invest so as to improve the sales and service for the customers.
