Mitsubishi Triton and Pajero Sport owners who have vehicles produced before May 11, 2012 are being asked by Mitsubishi Motors Malaysia (MMM) to bring their vehicles to an authorised service centre for a precautionary inspection of the front suspension.
This exercise, requested by Mitsubishi Motors Corporation, is to inspect the welding condition of the front lower arm and replace if found faulty. Although there have not been any incidents in Malaysia, the inspection is still necessary to ensure that the manufacturing flaw is not present as it can cause vehicle instability.
According to MMM, 8,216 units of the Triton and Pajero Sport registered in Malaysia were produced at the Mitsubishi Motors factory in Thailand before the specified date. The company will issue notification letters to the registered owners in its database.
MMM advises customers to make an appointment at Mitsubishi Motors’ authorized service centres nationwide upon receiving the letters for the inspection of the above which will take not more than 2 hours. The full cost of any work and related parts will be borne by Mitsubishi Motors.
If you do not receive a letter, then it is possible that your contact details are not in the MMM database because you are not the original owner (and MMM has not been informed of change of ownership). In such a case, contact an authorized Mitsubishi dealer for assistance.
