Huracan Evo debuts with Lamborghini Super Trofeo’s 10th edition this year

The Sepang round, which will officially kick off the 2018 edition of the Lamborghini Super Trofeo Asia this weekend, and the Monza one, which will open the European series the following week, will inaugurate the 10th season of the one-make series for the brand’s racing cars. This is an important milestone that coincides with the debut in the 3-continent series (North America, Asia and Europe) of the Lamborghini Huracan Super Trofeo Evo.

Despite drawing inspiration from the previous model, the new car is also looking to the future. Under this last aspect, it marks a further step forward in terms of innovation and safety. It is conceptually more similar to a GT3 and its sophisticated aerodynamic form is characterized by a ‘fin’ on the rear section.

In Malaysia, a new chapter will be opened, thanks to the Huracan Super Trofeo Evo, but the series will always be characterized by continuity and the increasing success it has encountered since 2009 (the debut year of the Lamborghini Super Trofeo Europe) until now.

This success is also demonstrated by figures: 755 drivers from 59 different countries have participated in the series in the last 10 years; and 279 races have been run at 42 different circuits (including those of the Middle East series, established at the beginning of last year), in 18 countries.

In the past 10 years, there have been 4,155 pit-stops, 41,000 tyres used, 6,461 laps, near 32,000 kms and over 211 racing hours corresponding to almost 600 days of ‘racing’ activities on track (test sessions excluded).

For 2018, the championship will be held simultaneously in 3 different geographic areas. Each series consists of 6 double rounds and will finish with the World Final taking place at Vallelunga on November 17/18. After Sepang, Sebring, Valencia and Imola, the Italian circuit near Rome is ready to welcome back all the main participants of the Lamborghini Super Trofeo Asia, Europe and North America.
