Petaling Jaya, 6 November 2024 – Honda Malaysia has issued a proactive product update affecting around 36,000 units of its Civic, Civic Type R, and CR-V models. The update targets the Electric Power Steering (EPS) gearbox, specifically addressing potential issues with the gearbox worm wheel, which may swell over time and lead to reduced grease film thickness. This could cause abnormal steering noise or sticky steering in affected models.
The affected vehicles include:
- Civic (2022–2024)
- Civic Type R (2023–2024)
- CR-V (2024)
Honda Malaysia assures customers that no other models in current production or on sale are impacted by this update, underscoring its commitment to safety and customer care.
Customer Notification & Repair Process
Owners of the affected vehicles will receive notification letters with details on the update. Honda Malaysia urges all customers who receive a notification to schedule an appointment with any authorized Honda dealer for inspection and necessary repairs.
Cost-Free Inspections & Repairs
Honda Malaysia will cover all costs associated with the inspection, repair, or replacement of affected parts. Replacement stock for the EPS gearbox will be available in stages, beginning December 2024.
