Ford Focus is still the best-selling car in the world

The Ford Focus has continued into 2013 as the best-selling car in the world, according to Ford which refers to the latest data (for the first quarter of 2013) available from Polk, an automotive and marketing solutions company.

The popularity of the Focus was boosted by strong demand in China where sales of the model were up 153% – to 104,065 units – compared to the first quarter of 2012. Compared to the same period in 2013, global sales were up 18% with 288,724 units delivered around the world.

A new Ford plant in Thailand began producing the Focus last year

More than 2 units of the Focus can be produced in a minute with the combined capacity of 9 plants worldwide

The Focus is produced in 9 plants around the world (including one in Thailand) which have a combined capacity of over 1.5 million units annually of the model. Depending on the market, the Focus is available in three bodystyles as well as the high-performance ST hatchback. There’s even an electrically-powered variant sold in some countries.
