The Citroen DS Wild Rubis concept car, which will make its global debut at the Shanghai Motor Show, is a preview of another chapter in the DS line of the French carmaker. Originating from a dedicated DS studio, it joins the DS3, DS4, DS5 and Numero 9 concept car with its unique and inimitable style while letting the world know what a SUV variant of the DS line will look like.
The concept car’s name is derived from the ruby red bodywork which can change with the intensity of ambient light, with a rich tone completing the chromatic sections of the deep and emblematic DS colours.
With a length of 4.7 metres, the Wild Rubis is a medium-sized SUV comparable to the Hyundai Santa Fe’s proportions. However, as the pictures show, its styling does not conform to the typical SUV profile and is sportier as well as sleeker though it does have a lot of ground clearance.
The powertrain uses full-hybrid, plug-in technology and there are said to be many technological innovations in this concept – though how many will make it to the production DS SUV remain to be seen. No word on when the production model will appear in showrooms.
