Bookings for new Nissan Serena S-Hybrid cross 2,500 mark within 4 weeks after launch

The Nissan Serena is the bestselling midsize MPV in Japan and looks like it is also enjoying similar popularity in Malaysia with just the S-Hybrid version that is assembled locally. Officially launched last month, bookings for the model nationwide have passed the 2,500 mark, of which over 750 units have been registered in the 4 weeks after the launch.

“Bookings for the All-New Nissan Serena S-Hybrid show the great acceptance of this hot new model from Edaran Tan Chong Motor (ETCM) and we thank all our customers for their support. We will continue to deliver quality products and, at the same time, we are increasing our production to ensure that All-New Nissan Serena S-Hybrid is delivered on time to our valued customers,” said Christopher Tan, Sales and Marketing Director of ETCM.

The latest Serena S-Hybrid is the fourth generation of the model line which started in 1990. As with the other three preceding generations, the model has been assembled in Malaysia by Tan Chong Motor Assemblers. This generation is assembled at the plant near Serendah, Selangor, which began operations in 2007. The plant uses the Nissan Integrated Manufacturing System to ensure consistency of high quality. It also has, among other features, a flexible single line that allows assembly of a variety of models. This enables response quickly to changes in demand for different models.

2018 Nissan Serena S-Hybrid Highway Star Does More For Less

The latest Serena S-Hybrid comes with new intelligent technologies and features that help to make driving safer and more enjoyable. Nissan Intelligent Mobility (NIM) features include the first-in-class Intelligent Around View Monitor (I-AVM) which uses 4 cameras around the vehicle to provide a simulated 360° bird’s-eye view to make manoeuvring in tight spaces and parking easier. It incorporates Intelligent Moving Object Detection (I-MOD) that detects moving objects surrounding the vehicle to alert the driver.

Getting in and out is easier with the handsfree feature on the power sliding side doors. They open automatically by just placing the foot under the side sill, great when both hands are carrying bags.

The rear door is also unique in that it is in two sections, with the upper half swinging open to allow light and small items to be deposited in the cargo area. This is useful if the vehicle is parked against a wall and it is not possible to open a full-sized door. However, the larger door opening is also available when required as the lower section also rises.

During the month of June 2018, the Serena S-Hybrid and other Nissan models are offered at special prices, thanks to the ‘Best Deal Ever 0% GST’ campaign. With GST no longer being charged and Duit Raya savings, the prices of the MPV starts from RM123,874 (without insurance).
