All-new Land Rover Defender 110 available in 296bhp Ingenium petrol engine and 395bhp petrol-mild hybrid electric

The all-new Land Rover Defender 110 has made its debut in Malaysia. The exterior design retains elements which are characteristic of the previous Defender – the upright stance, alpine roof lights, chamfered roofline, side-hinged tailgate and externally mounted spare wheel – .

The four-wheel drive is offered at launch in two powertrains, a 2.0-litre 300PS (296bhp) four-cylinder petrol engine and a 3.0-litre 400PS (395bhp) Mild Hybrid Electric Vehicle six-cylinder petrol boosted by a 48-volt electric supercharger

The 2.0-litre 300PS has a maximum torque of 400Nm at 5500rpm while the 3.0-litre 400PS delivers 550Nm of torque and a 0-100km/h time of 6.1 seconds.

The new 110 is all-new from the base up. The body on frame construction is now an aluminium monocoque. Maximum towing capacity is 3500kg. The maximum static roof load, is 300kg. Ground clearance is 291mm with a maximum wading depth of 900mm, elevated by electronic air suspension.

The wheelbase is 3022mm, 99mm longer than the 2923mm of the Discovery, with a breakover angle of 28 degrees. The air suspension is capable of providing an off-road ride height lift of 75mm with an additional 70mm to a maximum of 145mm. For easy access, the Elegant Arrival feature automatically lowers the body by 40mm.

The cameras and mirrors are electronically aided. The 3D Surround Camera has a new 3D exterior perspective that gives an overhead 360º all round view. There is ClearSight Ground View for views under the vehicle. If the driver’s rear view is obstructive by passengers or objects in the cabin, there is ClearSight interior rear view mirror which displays the view of the traffic behind the Defender, through a rear roof-mounted camera.

The Defender is equipped with state-of-the-art technology which includes new Pivi Pro infotainment system, Meridien Sound System, Head-up Display and the ClearSight undercarriage and rear viewing cameras.

The rear loadspace is expandable from 1075-litres to 2380-litres and a maximum load of 900kg.

The all-new Defender is available as a five- or seven-seater and has too many optional extras to list. Prices start from RM798,800 for the 2.0-litre petrol and from RM998,800 for the 3.0-litre mild-hybrid. All Land Rovers come with Land Rover Care programme which includes a five-year warranty, five years’ free service and three years’ free roadside assistance.

A Land Rover Heritage watch worth RM2288 will be given with every Defender registered in 2021 in celebration of Sime Darby and Land Rover’s forty years of partnership.
