All-new variant, Honda City Hatchback, replaces Honda Jazz
Honda Malaysia has launched the Honda City Hatchback. The new variant replaces the Honda Jazz, a hatchback that was also based on the Honda City platform.
There are three spec levels for the 1.5-litre petrol variant, V, E, and S; and a top-of-the-range hybrid model, the RS e:HEV. The hybrid will be launched in 2022.
The 1.5-litre petrol engine produces 119bhp and 145Nm of torque and is paired with a seven-speed CVT transmission. The RS e:HEV has a 1.5L Sports intelligent Multi-Mode Drive (i-MMD) engine with electric CVT (e-CVT). The output is 107bhp and 253Nm of torque, comparable to the performance from a D-segment naturally aspirated vehicle.
The RS e:HEV has gloss black front grilles, solid wing and door mirrors and two tone exterior. Both the RS e:HEV and V variants have LED headlights with LED daytime running lights (DRL), LED front fog lights, tailgate spoiler and LED rear combination lights. They also have 16-inch alloy wheels.
Carried over from the Jazz into the City Hatchback are the Ultra Seats, with four configurations for maximum user versatility. Other features, depending on spec level are:
- remote engine and air-conditioning start
- six air bags
- Ultrasuede or leather seats
- seven-inch TFT meter
- rear air-con vents
- eight-inch infotainment display with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity
Safety levels are class-leading with Honda Sensing in the RS e:HEV and V variants. The suite of driver assistance safety systems include:
- Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC)
- Collision Mitigation Braking System (CMBS)
- Forward Collision Warning (FCW)
- Lane Keep Assist System (LKAS)
- Road Departure Mitigation (RDM)
- Lane Departure Warning (LDW)
- Auto High Beam (AHB)
In addition to that, the City Hatchback also comes with other standard safety features such as Vehicle Stability Assist (VSA), Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), Electronic Brake Distribution (EBD), Brake Assist (BA), Emergency Stop Signal (ESS), Hill Start Assist (HSA), Rear Seat ISOFIX I-SIZE Type and Rear Seatbelt Reminder. Meanwhile, the RS e:HEV and V variants are equipped with 6 Airbags. The RS e:HEV variant also has Auto Brake Hold (ABH) for stop-and-go traffic conditions.
