BMW Malaysia has introduced the G16 BMW 840i Gran Coupe M Sport in Malaysia and it is available for booking online.
Recently launched together with the BMW X6 xDrive40i Sports Activity Coupe, BMW Malaysia has launched the first-ever BMW 840i Gran Coupe M Sport (G16) in Malaysia at its first-ever virtual launch on BMW Malaysia’s online shop earlier today.
The BMW 840i Gran Coupe M Sport features BMW laser headlight with high-beam assistant, which the one fitted on the 840i Gran Coupe is the most slender of all BMW models. The Gran Coupe also features the BMW M Aerodynamic kit, in addition to the standard BMW M Sport package.
Comparing to the G15 two-door coupe, the wheelbase of the G16 has been increased by around 20 centimetres, which allows space for two additional frameless doors. The Gran Coupe rides on 20-inch light-alloy wheels in the Y-spoke style 728 M Bicolour with mixed tyres and run-flat tyres.
Under the hood of the BMW 840i Gran Coupe M Sport is a three-litre six-cylinder in-line BMW TwinPower Turbo engine making 340 hp at 5,000 – 6,500 rpm and 500 Nm of torque at 1,600 – 4,500 rpm. Mated to the three-litre engine is the eight-speed Steptronic Sport transmission driving the rear wheels.
It goes from nought to a hundred in 5.2 seconds, then reaching an electronically-limited top speed of 250 Km/h. BMW claims that the 840i Gran Coupe consumes 7.9 l/100km combined.
Moreover, the BMW 840i Gran Coupe M Sport is made for driving; BMW Malaysia says that the body and chassis, as well as the 840i Gran Coupe’s suspension components, are largely taken off the M shelves, such as the M Sport differential, the Integral Active Steering and Adaptive Suspension with electronically-controlled dampers.
The interior is furnished with a full-leather dashboard, electric sports seats with integrated headrests and active seat ventilation for both the driver and front passenger. The rear seats meanwhile have a moulded single-seat appearance.
Ambient lighting with adjustable brightness and colour spectrum helps set the mood for the drive. Passengers in the Gran Coupe will get their own climate bubbles through the four-zone automatic air conditioning. And for better privacy, roller sunblinds are also available as standard. The rear seat backrests feature a 40/20/40 split and folding them down allows additional room on top of the 440-litre boot capacity.
For an audience of two, the BMW 840i Gran Coupe comes standard with the BMW Live Cockpit Professional, which includes a customisable 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, and the 10.25-inch touchscreen Control Display. The latter is powered by the BMW Operating System 7.0 excels which is customisable.
Moreover, the 840i Gran Coupe’s BMW Live Cockpit Professional comes with a Head-Up Display and the voice-activated BMW Intelligent Personal Assistant. On top of that, infotainment functions can also be accessed through the iDrive Controller, touchscreen feature and BMW Gesture Control.
The BMW 840i also comes with BMW’s latest driving assistance systems under the BMW Personal CoPilot intelligent driving system. These features include:
- Cross-traffic Warning
- Lane Change Warning.
- Active Cruise Control with Stop & Go function,
- Automatic Speed Limit Assist,
- Steering and Lane Control Assistant including narrow-passage support
- Forward Collision Warning with braking function (pedestrians and cyclists).
In addition, the Parking Assistant Plus is available as standard. This system includes the Parking Assistant as well as the Surround View system with Top View, Panorama View and Remote 3D View. The lateral parking aid and the Active Park Distance Control emergency braking feature are also included to help support in tricky parking situations.
Likewise, with the BMW X6 xDrive 40i, owners will also be able to use the BMW Display Key along with the BMW Connected Package Professional with Teleservices, Intelligent Emergency Call and Apple CarPlay. And audiophiles can enjoy their favourite tracks via the Harman Kardon 16-speaker surround sound system.
The BMW 840i Gran Coupe M Sport is offered in exterior colours:

These can be paired with BMW Individual extended Merino leather trim in a variety of premium colour combinations ranging from Black, Night Blue, Cognac, Tartufo and Fiona Red.
Priced at RM 968,800, customers can now book the BMW 840i Gran Coupé M Sport with an RM5,000 booking fee on BMW Malaysia’s online shop.
